While I am a firm believer that focusing on eating real whole foods helps reduce the need to count calories you must exercise a bit of portion control.

Even a healthy choice (like overnight oats, acai or smoothie bowls) can be not so healthy if you are unaware of the true serving size!

The photo on the left was taken for my blog and jammed full of ingredients to include chopped zucchini, oats, chia and flax seed with unsweetened almond milk. All healthy and really yummy ingredients

At my best guess, the serving size of the oats on the left would be 2 - 3 serving compared to the single serving on the right.

The photo on the right was an actual serving size of oats in alignment with my meal plan to include a 1/3 of a cup of oats, 1/2 of fresh peach (diced), 1 tablespoon of peach cobbler protein powder, and a 1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk. v neck outfits for prom party

Don't fall for the beautiful recipes circulating on Pinterest of mason jars packed full of oats or smoothies to be the correct serving size! Enjoy your oats and smoothies in moderation :)
